Paris

Paris was the last leg on our travel break. Paris was the best! I have wanted to go there since I was little! It did not disappoint! My mom knows French, and has been to France 3 times, so that was uber helpful in getting around Paris. Thanks mom! Funny/Sucky Story Time: We bought Eurail Passes before we left. This means that we buy the pass and we get on any train we want, with sometimes having to pay the reservation fee of 17 pounds. The whole trip we hopped on whatever trains we wanted. In Visp, a couple days before we needed to be in Paris we went to book our Eurostar train. Well they did not have ANYTHING available!!! We tried looking into flying there etc.. Finally after working with us the lady told us that she found a train for us but we had to pay an extra 118 Francs per person to get on! Crappy! So we get on the next day and we ask the conductor where our seats were. He says that we have to sit in the extra bucket seats for a little while then we can move to our real seats. No big deal right? Wrong! We tried to get our seats when it was time only they were all full! They had completely overbooked the whole train! We had to sit there the entire time to Paris! They were uncomfortable and it was right in the aisle and right before the food car so it was very busy with people walking back and forth the whole time! HAHA. It's pretty funny now, but at the time I was pretty mad! Okay that sucky story is over. Now on to the good stuff: The first day after we got settled in we went to The Louvre. This museum is enormous! We were there for 3.5 hours and we still did not have enough time to see everything! The outside is spectacular all in itself. The inside holds thee Mona Lisa and many other beautiful works of art and sculptures. The Mona Lisa is actually very underwhelming! It's not as big or spectacular as you would imagine it! But it was still pretty cool to see the real one. That is where the crowds were hovering. Afterwards we went outside in the bitter cold (Paris was much colder than London at this time of the year,) and got our first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower from far away! If you ever go there, you have to try their savory crepes! To die for! I think we got those every night for dinner. That was day one in "The City of Love." -or- "The City of Lights." However you like to think of it. It is both to me. (My mom likes it as The City of Lights.)

Sitting on our bucket seats! Not really very stoked. At least we didn't have to stand right?

The fist sight of the Louvre. There is an entrance right out of the subway. This huge under/over ground Pyramid was my favorite!

This was an ancient law code by Hammurabi in 1790 B.C. It was discovered in 1901....John thought this was very interesting!

Zermatt II

Our last day in Zermatt was awesome and maybe even colder! It was so cold that I didn't even want to go outside. We did go out and see some stuff. We went to the old part of town. It was really cool to see all the old buildings and wood piles. We even got a glimpse of the Matterhorn from a different angle. The fog was covering over the top, but it made for a dope picture! Then we went and got some soup for dinner. Funny story time: So John wanted to buy a Swiss Army Knife that was from Switzerland. We went to the store and looked at all the knives. Anyway, while John was buying the knife I was looking at one of the knives on display. (All of the knives they sell were on display...) I was trying to close it up and I guess I pushed on the wrong end of the knife and totally cut my finger! I asked the lady at the front desk if she had a tissue I could have cause I was bleeding. She said yes we have one. She then pulled out a First Aid Kit! She gets me a tissue and a band aid. She told me it was not the first time this had happened! I was super embarrassed. As we were leaving, she handed me another tissue cause she could see it was bleeding more than normal. I still have a scar on my finger. Of course John wanted to take a picture of it bleeding, so you'll see in one of the pics some blood that was caused by me by being stupid. Okay, glad to get that off my chest. We would love to go back to Switzerland in the summer when it's not to stinkin' cold! What a great experience to go to Switzerland! We felt really lucky to go there. Danke Schon Zermatt!

The one and only church they have. Their pride and joy I hear. (from my mom I heard...)

Okay so I know there are a lot of this thing they call the Matterhorn, but come on- it's so rad!

I wish you could see just how cold it really was. That is not possible. Unless there were snow or something else!

My brother asked us if we were staying at Hotel Romantica and we thought he was joking. Then we saw the actual hotel. We got a pic in front of it for him!

Look at this little house way up there on the mountain! Crazy!

They do have pumpkins in Zermatt. Happy Late Halloween from the folks of Zermatt.
