Baby Gear

We finally decided on a Pack' N Play with a bassinet for the baby. I'm not sure if we made the right choice, but it's too late now. I like it well enough, just not sure if it's too harsh or dark for him. It looks better in person. I love the canopy! I put my new Keep Calm and Carry On pillow in it just for fun. His Car Seat/stroller base is all black too. I guess we can add colorful blankets to warm them up? Both of them are double duty, which is nice because we have a very tight space to work with. I wish I had a nursery to decorate and show you. Hopefully in our next place! The Pack' N Play has a changer station/diaper holder in it. The portable swing we got is just the opposite. It's very colorful and a little feminine! Haha. Hopefully they will work out well. We are ready for him to come now! Please come early Duder Jr!

Baby Questions:

Okay moms I need your help! I really have no idea what I'm doing and what to get. Yes the baby is due in 6 weeks and we don't have any of the big stuff yet. We like to take our time. Haha. We did order a portable swing and a Puj tub the other day. I need your help and advice with a few other big items! 

We obviously don't have a car here in NY, but we need one for when he comes home from the hospital and if we ever take a taxi. We also need a stroller. I was originally thinking of getting a travel system so that I could just use the car seat inside of the stroller and not feel like it was a waste to get a car seat. Then I realized that they are pretty heavy and cumbersome. I need one that is lightweight and easily foldable for traveling on the subway and buses. I also need one that will work in the city and possibly the snow and rain. I don't wanna spend a lot of money, but we'd like a decent, safe one. We are thinking now that we will just get a Graco car seat and then buy one of those Snap N' Go stroller bases that we can attach the car seat to. They are inexpensive, lightweight, and have a large basket and cup holders. What do you think about that option? It will only work while he fits in the infant car seat, but that is until he is like 30 pounds. We'd like to keep both under $300.00. Or would you just get a lighter weight City Mini Jogger that can adapt a car seat into it? 

The other question I have is: Would you get a Pack N' Play with a bassinet insert for him to sleep in, or a jr. crib that is on wheels and can easily move from room to room? It's 35% smaller than a normal crib. We don't have room for a full size crib here. I don't think we need a baby monitor because we'll hear him easily with our one bedroom apartment. We don't need a bouncer and a swing right? Also, we have Bumbo with a tray already so we really won't need a highchair for awhile right? Anyway, any advice or any other suggestions are highly appreciated. Are there any other must have items that I'm not aware of? Thanks so much in advance!

Last question: Did you use a breast pump? If so, which brand, and did you get an electric or a manual pump? I have read that manual ones are just as good, if not more convenient and much less expensive.

P.S. I already have a Bjorn carrier and a Boppy! ; )

I was so very honored and lucky to have a lady named Karen Farnsworth throw me a baby shower for Baby Crisp! It was beyond nice, and very appreciated. I felt very loved. It was last Tuesday night at her beautiful home. I invited people from my ward and some friends from work. We had a great turn out of about 25 people. We started the evening by chatting and eating delicious food out in her backyard. Then we took some really fun photos using mustaches on a stick. The theme was "Oh Boy! It's a little Man." with mustaches.(See invite...) She did a fantastic job of decorating and planning. While we were eating, her daughter Audrey went around to all the tables and asked us different verbs, nouns, adjectives, etc... She was filling out a Mad Lib's paper. Then we went inside to do presents. Audrey read aloud the mad libs she we had just created. It was so cute and funny. Then we had a diaper auction. Everyone that brought diapers for Duder Jr. was able to bid on items that she had either handmade or purchased. She is one talented mama! I think the girls had a lot of fun! Then it was time to open presents. I got the funnest, nicest stuff. I am in LOVE with the cute diaper bag Karen got me. She totally nailed it as far as my style goes. I can't wait to use it! We chatted some more and said our goodbyes. It was such a fun night. I'm so grateful for kind people and for Sis. Farnsworth for opening her beautiful home to everyone. We also had another thorough ultrasound on Friday. We even got to see him in 4D for a little bit at the end. The pictures don't look great, but still pretty cool to see what he's kind of going to look like!
