Halloween

Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup plus McDonald's Coke equals Halloween in London. We were oh so festive this year. No pumpkins, no costumes, no one came to trick or treat at our house, no decorations, nothing! I guess Halloween isn't very popular here in London. We did have some very delicious Chicken Noodle Soup that we made and we watched Hocus Pocus! HaHa!! Don't worry last night we watched The Witches! So funny! I don't think I've seen either of those since I was little! We had a fun Halloween! What did you do for Halloween?

(Here is the delicious recipe if you want to make it)
CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP
Ingredients:
1 whole chicken
1 bay leaf
1 Tb. Knorr chicken stock
1-2 stalks celery, cut in thirds
1 onion, quartered
1 carrot, peeled and cut in half
Salt and pepper as desired
1 bag wide egg noodles (found in the freezer section)
Carrots, onions, celery, potatoes, (peeled and chopped)
(However many you want of these. These are for later that go in the actual soup.)
Directions:
Place chicken in large pot and cover with water. Add bay leaf, onion, carrot and chicken stock. Boil at least an hour or until meat separates easily from bone. I usually do this one night, put whole thing in refrigerator and clean chicken the next day.
Remove chicken from pot. Skim fat from stock in pot. Discard onion, celery and carrot. Remove all bones from chicken and cut meat into bite-sized pieces. Set meat aside. Bring stock in pot to a boil again, then add potatoes, onions, celery and carrots, as many as you want. Taste broth. If too watery, add more chicken stock. Boil until vegetables are still firm, al dente, then add chicken and noodles. Boil another 12-15 minutes or until noodles are done.

Pisa

The next day we were still in Florence. The first shot is of John hand washing some clothes in the sink. He put it outside on the clothes line that was provided in our little place we were staying. We then went and got on a train to Pisa. It took us an hour or so and we got off the train. We got out and it was pouring rain and windy! We were kind of disapointed, but we thought it might make for good pictures. We got on a bus that took us to what we were there to see: The Leaning Tower of Pisa! We got out and walked over to the tower. It was really cool to see it! It is huge! I was not very smart that day and didn't bring a jacket or anything, so John bought me a plastic poncho. I was so cold! I put it on and we snapped away! We took our pics, got back on the next bus to the train station and we bounced! We were literally only there for 30 minutes! It was really neat to see, but there isn't much else to see in Pisa. We were worried that it had rained in Florence as well. Sure enough John's clothes were wetter than they were before he put them out to dry! John and my dad rung them out and we had to just put them in the wardrobe that was provided and blow dry them! It was sad, but pretty funny at the same time! How many of you have had to hand wash and line dry your clothes? It sucks! (We had to do this 2-3 times during our trip...) Needless to say, I am very grateful we usually have a washer/dryer to use.

Firenze

Our next City was Florence, Italy. This was a cute little town. The first place we went after our train ride there was the Academy Gallery. This famous museum has Michelangelo's original "DAVID" statue. That statue was really cool to see in person! It was funny because this lady sitting next to us looking at the statue didn't know why one of his hands was bigger than the other one. My dad told her the bigger hand was suppose to represent "God's hand." It was an amazing, huge statue that I'm very glad I got to see. There were no pictures allowed in this museum. We took some pics of a replica David later on. (Not nearly as Big or cool as the REAL David statue...) Then we went to the Duomo; A.K.A. The Basilica di Santa Maria del Flore. It was breathtaking! We saw the Battistero, which is supposedly the oldest building in Florence. It was pretty cool. We had some delicious gelato and did some more wandering before dinner. We went in this outdoor museum that had a bunch of statues and what not. They had a large TV screen up as well. We were now in Palazzo Vecchio. There were street performers, b-boys, and a fountain as well as the FAKE DAVID statue. We walked past The Uffizi Museum and we ended the day at The Ponte Vecchio. There was a river and some beautiful architecture there.

The Original "David" statue someone else took illegally! Thanks somebody!

Some b-boys we found. They didn't want us to take their pic. I would have thought it would be the opposite!
