Last Wednesday was my 25th birthday! We celebrated it with John's family (including Scott)! I'm so glad to have at least some family by us in California. We went to this italian place on 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica Ca. Santa Monica is such a rad place. The food was delicious and we had a great time looking around. John's parents picked us up some cupcakes from Sprinkles and sang "Happy Birthday" to me. THey have some yummy cupcakes you should check it out if you want a great cupcake. Thanks to them for making it a great birthday for me! Oh and John ordered me ANOTHER band that I had wanted. I felt so spoiled. It looks so pretty! Thanks John! You're the best! On Friday John had "Family Day" at Pepperdine. John's parents and I came. We sat in on his first class; which was Civil Procedure. It was boring but interesting to see how a class went down. Then his mom took us to Dukes in Malibu for lunch. It was really good! I hear they have awesome fish tacos. (I don't like seafood)... The view was amazing. We sat outside right next to the ocean. It felt like you were on a cruise ship. Then we went down to Mission Viejo for the weekend to celebrate John's Dad's birthday! During the day on Saturday Debbie and I went to a craft class in her ward and made some Holiday decorations. They were extremely simple (which is good because I am so not crafty...) and they turned out pretty cute! I don't have very many Holiday decorations so this was a great opportunity to build my collection and spend some time with Debbie. Then Debbie and I went to the fabric store and picked out some fabric for some new pillows for the living room. We went back and she sewed them up for me. They turned out great! Thanks again Debbie. Then for Geoff's birthday we went to The Cheesecake Factory. It was great as usual. Then we came back and watched The Paper Chase. It is an old movie about a first year student at Harvard Law school. John's dad has been telling us about it for awhile and we were glad to finally see it. It was very interesting. Then we opened presents and ate a yummy cake Debbie had made! What a great week we had! Here are some pics from all of these events! Hope everyone is doing great!
Today is a special day because John and I got married one year ago today! John also starts law school today at Pepperdine! I wanted to publicly thank John for being a great hubby! Marriage has it's ups and downs...but It is all worth it! At the end of the day having someone there for you and that is your best friend is the best thing possible! It is great to be in love! We celebrated our anniversary last Sat night. First John took me to The Cheesecake Factory by our house. It was very yummy! While we were at dinner he surprised me by giving me what I've wanted for a long time and what he shouldn't have gotten me... He gave me a diamond anniversary band to go along with my wedding ring! I was so shocked and happy! I just made him a card and promised him Rock Band in the future! HAHA...He is the best. Then we went to The Rocker. It was pretty funny...Don't pay full price for it. Rainn Wilson (Dwight) made it pretty funny...If he wouldn't have been in it it would have been pretty lame! So we had a wonderful anniversary! Tonight John will be at school till late and I have to work a night shift! But I am grateful we got to celebrate last Sat and I am thankful for a wonderful, loving husband! I am truly blessed...
Hi guys...So I promised to post some pics of the move and the new apartment. I think the place looks better in person. But anywho, here is a little preview of what our $1720 dollar a month apartment looks like! Yikes! I know, I know It's super expensive but that is just California for you! Luckily I was able to transfer to the cali CPK and we will get some help from John's student loans. Thank goodness for the high interest loans! HAHA...John drove the U-Haul all by himself and in Beaver Utah the dang thing BROKE DOWN!!!! Poor Johnny! Luckily a tow guy came within 30 minutes and he towed John to the closest repair shop and we were all hoping and praying that they could easily fix it and we could move on! NO WAY...YAH RIGHT!!! 3 hours later we learned that we had to TRADE U-Hauls!!! Yup! WE all had to re-pack everything into another U-Haul! It was a nightmare! It was so hot and we were all dripping with sweat! It sucked so bad! But It could have been a lot worse! The guy that towed John was the bishop of his ward and he was super nice. So that was cool. Anyway, After all that we had a lot of help from my mom and dad and John's family! Big thanks to them for helping us get moved in and unpacked! My mom stayed up literally the whole night before we moved to sew some curtains for the living room and bedroom. Thanks mom! I love you! I posted a couple of pics from the apartment's website like of the pool and fitness area because I didn't wanna go outside and take them! HaHa...
We found our church on the first Sunday and attended it with my parents and my Grandma Jean. I am incredibly grateful that the gospel is the same anywhere you go! That is basically the only similarity between here and good Ol' Utah! But hey, our gas right now is ony 3.89!!! Sweet huh? Anyway, We are excited for John to start school on our anniversary, which is the 25th of August, and we are just super excited to start our new life here! Please keep in touch and thanks for all being a part of our lives! We love you and will miss you!
