Introducing:

The babe is finally here! He was born on his exact due date: Thursday October 20th, 2011! Here is the story if you are interested. This will be long, but I want to remember everything that happened. If you want, you can just skip to all the pics! BIRTH STORY: On Wednesday night I started having small contractions. I wasn't sure if they were real or not. I went to bed and around 2:30 in the morning I woke up to my water breaking! We woke up and started freaking out. I wasn't sure if I should call my doctor or not, and it was so early that I went back to bed for like 30 minutes. I started having semi-painful contractions that were getting fairly close together. John insisted on calling the doctor. He called her around 3:30 and she said to come right to the hospital. We packed up some things and called a town car company. They said they couldn't come for an hour! That was not going to work so John went downstairs and talked to the front desk. They called another town car company and they said they could be there in 10 minutes! At this point I was having painful contractions. The town car ride was so bumpy and uncomfortable! He couldn't even find the hospital! John had to tell him where to turn. It was so annoying. Finally we got the hospital and I waddled to the elevator and went up to triage. They took me to the back to exam me. They said I was dilated to a 3. They hooked me up to an IV and started measuring my contractions. They said they were coming really close together! I was in a lot of pain at this point. I kept asking if I could get an epidural. They said no, not yet. John found me a little while later and I started squeezing his hand as hard as I could and in more pain then I've ever experienced in my life. I just wanted to die! Finally I was making so much noise that the nurse checking the lady next to me came over and checked to see how dilated I was. She checks me and then says I was at a 10 and ready to go! This was less than 45 minutes later! No wonder I was in so much pain! They had no open rooms so they had to wheel me to the OR! John freaked out and had to change into scrubs etc. All of sudden I'm under all these bright lights and there are like 10 people in there. They are attaching stir ups and setting things up. I asked for an epidural again and they said it was up to my doctor. She arrived like 5 minutes later. When she got there she said lets just try and push this kid out. I tried pushing while I was having contractions like 4 or 5 times. Whenever I would push, they baby's heart rate would drop! They had attached a heart rate monitor to the baby's head. We tried again and the same thing. Then she tells me we have two options: She can try and vacuum him out or I could have a C-Section. I told her to try the vacuum. Then she said I could get an epidural because if the vacuum didn't work I'd be ready to go with a C-Section. I got the epidural and my legs started going numb. I started pushing again when she said I was having a contraction. I tried pushing as hard as I possibly could. She said that the baby's heart rate was fine once I got the epidural. I tried a few more rounds of pushing and finally he came out! She put him up on my chest to hold him and I was just shocked! (I'm tearing up right now as I type this) I just couldn't believe I had this little person now! They took him away and started checking him etc. Because he was vacuumed out, he got a bruise from it on his head. He also had a cone head. Poor thing. I was just glad to avoid a C-Section. She did have to cut me in order to fit the vacuum inside to get him out. She sewed me up and I went in another room to recover. I almost had a natural birth! After they gave me the spinal he was born within15 minutes! Crazy right? My labor was very painful, but pretty fast for a first time mom! My legs stayed numb for the next 3-4 hours so I had to stay in this one room longer than usual. Finally they just wheeled me down to the 11th floor to go to my semi-private room to recover for the next couple of days. It was interesting to have a roommate, but she was cool and we chatted quite a bit. While in the hospital, I was in a lot of pain and very overwhelmed, but John was there for me the whole time and is in love with baby Weston. Overall he is healthy. He has that bruise on his head, and a he's a little jaundiced, but other than that he's great! We came home from the hospital on Saturday afternoon. Recovery and breastfeeding have been really painful and frustrating, but he is a sweetheart and my mom is here helping us until Saturday! Besides being completely exhausted, we are happy and feel really blessed to have him in our lives. WE LOVE HIM SO MUCH AND CAN'T IMAGINE LIFE WITHOUT HIM NOW! This little blog of mine just got a lot more interesting! Welcome to the World, Weston! We love you!

Pumpkin Carving/Decorating Ideas!

I am having so much fun on Pinterest lately with Halloween decor and pumpkin pinning! We aren't decorating for Halloween this year because all of our stuff is in CA in storage. We do plan on carving/decorating pumpkins sometime though. Depending on how I feel and when the little stinker comes. (He is due tomorrow!) There are so many fun ways to carve/decorate pumpkins. John likes carving them and Orange pumpkins, while I hate it. I like to paint them and I like White pumpkins. Last Halloween John carved a Linus from Charlie Brown and I took a sharpie and free handed an owl. Halloween post HERE if you want to see our pumpkins from last year. Here I have gathered some of my favorite pumpkin ideas from my Pinterest Halloween board. Have fun! Hopefully my next post will be introducing Baby Crisp! ; )
