Paris

Paris was the last leg on our 12 day travel break. Paris was the best! I have wanted to go there since I was little! It did not disappoint! My mom knows French, and has been to France 3 times, so that was uber helpful in getting around Paris. Thanks mom! Funny/Sucky Story Time: We bought Eurail Passes before we left. This means that we buy the pass and we get on any train we want, with sometimes having to pay the reservation fee of 17 pounds. The whole trip we hopped on whatever trains we wanted. In Visp, a couple days before we needed to be in Paris we went to book our Eurostar train. Well they did not have ANYTHING available!!! We tried looking into flying there etc.. Finally after working with us the lady told us that she found a train for us but we had to pay an extra 118 Francs per person to get on! Crappy! So we get on the next day and we ask the conductor where our seats were. He says that we have to sit in the extra jumper seats for a little while then we can move to our real seats. No big deal right? Wrong! We tried to get our seats when it was time only they were all full! They had completely overbooked the whole train! We had to sit there the entire time to Paris! They were uncomfortable and it was right in the aisle and right before the food car so it was very busy with people walking back and forth the whole time! HAHA. It's pretty funny now, but at the time I was pretty mad! Okay that sucky story is over. Now on to the good stuff: The first day after we got settled in we went to The Louvre. This museum is enormous! We were there for 3.5 hours and we still did not have enough time to see everything! The outside is spectacular all in itself. The inside holds thee Mona Lisa and many other beautiful works of art and sculptures. The Mona Lisa is actually very underwhelming! It's not as big or spectacular as you would imagine it! But it was still pretty cool to see the real one. That is where the crowds were hovering. Afterwards we went outside in the bitter cold (Paris was much colder than London at this time of the year,) and got our first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower from far away! If you ever go there, you have to try their savory crepes! To die for! I think we got those every night for dinner. That was day one in "The City of Love." -or- "The City of Lights." However you like to think of it. It is both to me. (My mom likes it as The City of Lights.)
